ABSTRACT:

Among the organic-material rich rocks, coals and bituminous rocks accumulate major and trace elements in varying quantities. These elements, based on their accumulation rates, might comprise a mineral deposit. But, if sufficient preventative measures are not taken at the worksites, they may also result in environmental contamination. Pamucakyayla coal samples have high contents of trace elements, U (0.5-15.2 ppm), Mo (0.2-10 ppm), V (12-123 ppm), Zr (1.1-1012 ppm), Th (0.4-35.7 ppm), Rb (1-91.6 ppm) and Y (2-7.1 ppm). When compared to trace element contents of coals in different parts of the world, the Pamucakyayla coal samples are found to be enriched in Cs, Hf, Nb, Rb, Th, U, V, Zr, Y and Mo with respect to coals in the United States, enriched in Sr and U with respect to Chinese coals and enriched in Cs, Rb, Th, U, V, Zr, Y and Mo with respect to World coals.
