ABSTRACT:

Pods samples of groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.) cultivar Giza 4 were collected from eight Governorates in Egypt. Pods were stored for one year in closed stores under natural conditions of temperature 25±2° C. Infested groundnut pods were soaked in modified Baermann Funnel contain distilled water to release the survived nematodes during 1, 7 and 14 days intervals. The nematodes were identified as Aphelenchoides arachidis based on morphological and morphometric characteristics of mature females and males according to Golden (1971), Mai & Lyon (1975) and Bos (1977 a, b). This represents the first record of A. arachidis in Egypt.
