ABSTRACT:
Stirrups should be put closely next to the joints and continue at the joints and be hooked 135 degree according to the code. On the other hand most of the buildings built before the strict regulations of the new code have no stirrup at the joints and are not put closely at the joint region. In this experimental study the effect of stirrup spacing and angle of hook is studied by two 1/5 modeled 3 bay 3 storey RC frame under cylic loads simulating earthquake loads. The obtained results show that the angle of hook and spacing of stirrups effect the ductility, lateral load performance and capacity and behaviour of frame under lateral loads directly.
