ABSTRACT:
A survey of different areas of Sindh was carried out to determine the nematodes associated with soil and roots of banana plantation. The root-knot nematode viz., Meloidogyne javanica and M. incognita were encountered along with other nematodes in banana plantation. The effect of organic amendment, bio-control and chemical was observed on banana variety (FHIA-23) against M. javanica which indicated that highest plant length was found where chitin was used. Reduction in the number of root-knot galls / 10 g root was observed in all treatments as compared to control. Among the organic, chemical and bio-control amendments, neem was found to reduce the root-knot nematode and
increase the plant growth parameters as compared to control.
