ABSTRACT:

In this study, data obtained from two inclinometer wells are evaluated in order to determine the instability of the slopes, amount and the direction of the deformations occurred on the slopes of Turkish Coal Enterprises- Aegean Lignite Enterprises Soma lignite open pit mine Işıklar section from January to October 2013. Maximum deformations of 80 mm and 6 mm were determined at the bottom (ALT-1) and upper (ÜST-1) wells respectively. Largest repetitive strain range is at 26 meters depth in the upper well and 16.5 meters depth at the lower well. The movement is in the south-west direction in both wells. These obtained data will create a database in determining the location of the sliding plane, sliding direction and deformation against a possible slide by using this database.
