ABSTRACT:

The effectiveness of two neem formulations viz., crude consisting of leaves, cake, and seed and refined consisting of aza was investigated by assessing the mortality of second stage juvenile (J2) ofMeloidogyne javanica in the greenhouse at 30oC ± 4oC. The soil was amended with neem crude and refined product (aza) and their aqueous and ethanol extracts were filtered. Aqueous extract of neem crude formulations was found more effective in causing J2 mortality compared with neem-refined formulation. Among the crude formulation dry neem leaves were
more toxic to J2 followed by neem seed and cake. Generally these aqueous and ethanole extracts were equally effective in causing mortality of J2, however the ethanol extract of neem seed was more toxic compared to that of aqueous extract, water and soil extracts. These findings demonstrate that neem product has the potential to manage the nematodes.
