ABSTRACT:
In this study, sedimentological characteristics of aluvial fan deposits of the Pliocene- Quaternary aged Topraklı formation developed in an area between NW of Konya (Sızma) and W of Konya (Sille), were examined. 10 lithofacies and 3 facies association were determined from 13 measured stratigraphic sections in this area. Proximal alluvial fan facies association is represented by normal graded conglomerate facies (Gg), well cemented, ungraded, clast supported conglomerate facies (Gccu), ungraded matrix supported conglomerate facies (Gmu), ungraded clast supported conglomerate facies (Gcu), normal graded clast supported conglomerate facies (Gcn). Middle alluvial fan facies association is represented by intermediate- coarse grained massive sand-gravel facies (Gu), intermediate- coarse grained massive sand facies (Sm), plannar cross bedded sand facies (Sp). Distal alluvial fan facies association is represented by gray mud facies bearing lenticular sand facies (Fms), massive mud facies bearing red-brown carbonate nodules facies (Fm). The development of these facies was mainly controlled by the faults in the Konya fault zone.
